This long reach hedge trimmer extends to an impressive 3.3 m in height, giving you enough reach to trim most tall hedges. But more importantly, this machine is extremely well balanced, allowing you to trim to its fullest extent with great precision while also reducing arm fatigue.

Also, the square telescopic shaft offers a high level of guide rigidity while also being easy to adjust by a rotatable clamping sleeve. The cutter bar can also be adjusted by 115° for top, bottom, or side cuts.

Top Tips

Cleaning your HLA 86

When you have finished using the hedge trimmer, remove the battery and wipe clean with a soft, damp cloth. We also suggest spraying a little resin solvent, like STIHL Superclean, onto the blades to remove sap or resin, protect them from corrosion and stop them getting stuck together.

Looking after your battery

Don't use a damp or wet battery in your HLA 86 and avoid using them in extreme temperatures (very hot or very cold).
